Dangerous 133

We think Highway 133 in UNfriendly to pedestrians and cyclists of all ages.  It cuts Carbondale in half, has too much cross traffic, and too few safe bike-pedestrian crossings. In 2023 The Carbondale Age-Friendly Community Initiative (CAFCI) will be reaching out to you, the public to listen to and compile your stories and opinions about Highway 133. What you tell us will help us design and advocate for actions to prevent injuries, save lives, and make Dangerous 133 safer.  Look for us at town events and online this Spring.

Adding Accessible Benches

We are 2022 AARP challenge Grant winner and recipient of a Rocky Mountain Health Foundation grant enabling CAFCI, in cooperation with the Carbondale Parks and Recreation Department, to complete installation installation of a conversational seating area, this time inside an environmentally sustainable “Human-Nature garden.” Slated for completion in 2023
